One of the biggest worries I had leaving for this exchange was regarding the type of people I’d meet here. Besides one other UBC student whom I had only met once prior to leaving, I knew not a single soul living in Cape Town.
Home is Cape Town. Home is with my family. Home is with my friends. Home is feeling safe. Home is knowing that I belong. And although the reasons for the feeling may change depending on where I am, I know that I can always feel at home.
“Cape Town boasts one of the most impressive, diverse, and comprehensive collections of restaurants and other food-related experiences on the planet. In my five months in the Mother City, I barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer.”
“My life revolves around school, part-time jobs, applications, and occasionally being social and sleeping. But when I was in Cape Town, everything was different. In Cape Town, everything was perfect. And then, that had to end.”
