Travel for less with this Vancouver start-up company

Before Flytrippers, Andrew D’Amours worked full-time as a management consultant and had never travelled outside North America. However, since January of this year, with the creation of his new startup company — Flytrippers.com — he has been able to journey through parts of Europe, Asia and South America.

If you are someone of bold character and itching to travel, Flytrippers is the website to check out. As D’amours puts it, they have a completely different website model.

“You can’t input dates on our website. We give you the dates that are on sale so you have to be flexible. It’s perfect for students and people who don’t necessarily have set vacation dates so they can leave any time for a 4-5 day trip,” said D’Amour.

As someone who took a year off to work and travel abroad, the “why not” factor has remained in the back of my mind whenever I see cheap flights.

For $122 round trip and taxes included, you could go to Las Vegas tomorrow.

“Just through the grapevine, people in Toronto started asking about us and then Ottawa and then Quebec city. We’re starting to do the same thing for the US as well now, but our real progress is in Canada especially Vancouver and Toronto,” said D’Amour.

Speaking about the importance of travelling, D’Amours and I both agree that it is the remedy to closed minds and cold feet. Right now, Flytrippers has created an adventurous itinerary showcasing an extensive trip — Vancouver to Hawaii, Australia, Asia, Greece and England — demonstrating that you could travel the world instead of buying the new iPhone.

As D’amour puts it, one of Flytrippers mission goals is to simply help people travel more — and who wouldn't love that?
