The strike notice comes after 40 days of collective bargaining failed to reach an agreement between BCRTC and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 7000, the union that represents approximately 900 SkyTrain workers in Metro Vancouver.
Federal Election
The platform stipulates that, if elected, the Liberal government would “continue the collaboration with the provinces and territories to improve accessibility, shorten wait times, increase access to a family doctor and improving the quality of care for the nearly five million who lack access.”
The Liberal Party ran on a platform promising to increase student grants, while making student loans more flexible and affordable.
One of the key issues the government needs to sufficiently address is discrimination against First Nations communities in the child welfare system.

The statement follows months of activism from student groups including UBCC350, Extinction Rebellion UBC (XR UBC) and the Social Justice Centre.
In June 2018, a draft of UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan was presented to the Board of Governors, intending to replace the university’s 2009 Aboriginal Strategic Plan and implement the TRC 94 calls to action.
While Ilnitchi has kept busy with the 2019 federal election and provincial government advocacy, some of her other campaign promises have yet to hit full stride.
Her platform aimed to tackle some lofty goals, like supporting the Sexual Assault Support Centre in a year where UBC’s sexual misconduct response policy is under review and pushing UBC to divest from fossil fuels.
Hakim campaigned on the platform of improving sexual assault support, affordability, Indigenous inclusion, sustainability and increased student consultation throughout all aspects of his work.
Liang campaigned on a platform of streamlining financial operations within the AMS and its constituent organizations, and further developing the relationship between her portfolio and the AMS’s 50,000 student members.
The administrative unit that manages these networks is UBC Information Technology (IT), and it collects data such as Campus-Wide Login (CWL) usernames, the media access control (MAC) address of users' devices and location.
In the November 12 submission, AMS President Chris Hakim and GSS President Nicolas Romualdi voiced their concerns in regards to how UBC has been seeking consultation from students-at-large instead of elected student leaders.
The faculty’s efforts have also extended beyond recruitment initiatives and into trying to address some of the more insidious issues that confront women once they enter engineering programs.

Due to the rejection of Adshade’s application, the two other faculty members running, math professor Dr. Mark Mac Lean and education professor Dr. Anna Kindler were acclaimed to the position.
