RCMP seeks information on armed break and enter suspect at Wesbrook Village

Police are seeking witnesses to a home invasion that happened Wednesday morning in Wesbrook Village.

At 11:30 a.m. on May 29, University RCMP responded to a report of a “break and enter in” on the 3400-block of Wesbrook Mall where the suspect allegedly aimed a firearm at the victims.

According to a statement issued today by the RCMP, the residents arrived home and interrupted the suspect, who brandished what appeared to be a firearm at them. The suspect then instructed the residents into the bathroom as he fled the area.

RCMP is now looking for a Middle Eastern or South Asian male suspect who appears to be about 50 years old. He is described to be 5 feet 4 inches tall and heavyset, speaking with a strong accent.

He was last seen wearing a dark baseball hat and dark unzipped jacket.

UBC declined to comment on an ongoing investigation that did not occur on campus.

Witnesses or persons with knowledge of the matter are encouraged to contact RCMP at 604-224-1322, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
