Last night, AMS Council voted to remove VP Academic and University Affairs (AUA) Drédyn Fontana six months into his term, effective immediately.
The motion needed three-quarters approval from Council and passed with 17 in favour and 3 opposed. The vote was conducted through a secret ballot, according to AMS President Christian 'CK' Kyle in an email to The Ubyssey.
On October 9, Council passed a motion from the EPA Committee to consider Fontana's "poor performance" in his role as VP AUA, among other concerns.

CK wrote the AMS will be releasing a statement shortly.
In an interview with The Ubyssey, Fontana said "I'm really just disappointed."
"There was a lot of work left to do, and there was a lot of people that I felt like were counting on me, and I can't be there for them anymore."
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
