Health agency warns of another possible COVID-19 exposure at Wreck Beach

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is reporting a possible COVID-19 exposure at Wreck Beach.

The health agency tweeted today that visitors to the beach on September 7 between 1 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. may have been exposed to COVID-19.

VCH said it believed the exposure to be “low risk.”

“[I]f you visited on these dates, please self-monitor for symptoms,” the health agency tweeted.

This is the second time Wreck Beach has been a site for possible COVID-19 exposure.

On August 28, VCH reported a possible exposure throughout the day on August 15. Metro Vancouver estimated that 8,000 people visited the beach on that day.

This exposure also comes amid a steady rise in case counts over the last couple of months. 139 new cases were announced in BC today, with three new deaths and currently 59 hospitalizations.

Young people ages 20–39 now make up 42 per cent of all recorded COVID-19 cases in BC.
