The Ubyssey picks up two more Canadian journalism awards

The Ubyssey took home Best Campus Website and Best Campus Feature Story at the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards on Tuesday night.

With the recognition, ubyssey.ca — which was designed from scratch by web developer Peter Siemens — wins its second national award this year.

The feature, Ada's Atlantic adventure, by science editor Koby Michaels, tells the story of an autonomous robot built by UBC engineers that attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean.

The Ubyssey was also shortlisted for Best Campus Photography for the photo below of UBC basketball player Jordan Jensen-Whyte, taken by Jeremy Johnson-Silvers:

A feature story by sports editor Olamide Olaniyan — Paddling upstream, which explores the history of the UBC women's rowing team — was also shortlisted.

Congratulations to the finalists and winners!
