Last Words: Why you should run to be a member of The Ubyssey's Board of Directors

The Ubyssey Publications Society has opened up nominations for our Board of Directors! If you want to get involved in one of Canada's top student newspapers, see how we're run and play a huge part in the community of The Ubyssey, you might be the person for the job.

While the Board of Directors have no editorial control over the paper, they play a key role in the paper's day-to-day business. Members of the Board attend monthly meetings – with a free dinner! – to discuss and vote on the paper's finances, business strategies and administration. Members oversee special projects as well as work with our business manager, student reps and coordinating editor to make sure things are running as smoothly as possible and that we stay afloat in the wild, wild world of journalism.

Being on the board means the chance to make a massive difference in The Ubyssey's community and understand the full scale of what a student paper of our size does every day. I mean, we've all chosen careers in journalism, do you expect us to make good business decisions?

Be the future of our 100 year legacy!

Nominations close tomorrow (February 15) at noon – yes, we know – so get your nominations in quick. Fill out a nomination form (available here or in front of our office in Nest, Room 2208) and drop it off to the Administrative Assistant in Nest Room 3502 by 12 p.m. tomorrow!
