UBC beat the Brandon University Bobcats in a cumulative six sets to one, losing their only match of the weekend on Friday.

Irvan Brar wracked up an impressive 19 kills on Friday and another 15 kills on Saturday. Brar has been strong all season long. The 6'2" outside hitter is in his third year and is averaging 2.92 kills per set this season.

The number of aces the ’Birds levied against the Bobcats on Friday. Brandon responded with five aces over the entirety of the weekend.

Friday saw 410 people file into War Memorial Gym, while Saturday saw an attendance just a little shy of the 500 person mark.

UBC's had a good start to the season. The team struggled to keep up with NCAA heavyweights over the winter break, but have been very strong in Canada West conference play. Last season, the team ended with a 13-11 conference record and finished fourth in the Canada West playoffs.
