Halloween — like Vine — may officially be over, but science is carries on never sleeping. Here are a few things UBC researchers have done while you were out trick-or-treating in your glorious, last-minute, broke-university-student-centric costumes.

Handicap, Access and Diversity

The AMS, Access and Diversity, and Campus and Community Planning (CCP) are teaming up to plan an accessibility shuttle service for central campus. This program aims to make the pedestrian core safer and more accessible for those with disabilities.

UBC works to reduce seismic risks on campus

A 2012 Seismic Risk Assessment Report dubbed 28 buildings on campus “very high risk” and 12 “high risk” — assessments that included a note of “loss of life probable” should such a seismic event occur, something the new plan hopes to partially remedy.

High school students will soon be required to write two provincial exams instead of five as a part of a new curriculum being instituted in British Columbia. UBC said this change will probably not have a major impact on admissions.
