UBC’s announced new inductees to the UBC Sports Hall of Fame last week. Among those inducted into the athletes category were track and cross country star Jeff Schiebler, quarterback Jordan Gagner, and basketball player Erica McGuinness.

Swimming lessons at Empire pool Circa 1970

UBC’s new Aquatic Centre is scheduled to be completed by November of 2016. The centre will feature a 50-metre competition pool, 25-metre pool, a leisure pool and a hot tub, each of which will occupy a different space and operate on a different tank.

It’s time to get pucked up. The UBC women’s hockey team are kicking off their playoff campaign after finishing second in the league as they face off the Regina Cougars this weekend at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbirds Sports Centre.

UBC Dance Club will play host to the Gala Ball over the March 5 weekend, welcoming over 230 ballroom dancers to the Great Hall for the first time in the history of the Nest. The event itself consists of all levels of ballroom dance competition.

After capturing both Canada West championships back in November, the UBC swim team will travel to the Université Laval to take on the 2016 Speedo CIS Swimming Championships. “We expect to have a battle on our hands,” said head coach Steve Price.

The women’s hockey team made history on Sunday night. After surviving two back-to-back elimination games, the ’Birds held on to a 3-2 victory against the Regina Cougars to bring the Canada West Final series to home ice next Friday.
