Presidential candidate Brandyn Marx's campaign suspended till voting closes

Presidential candidate Brandyn Marx’s campaign has been suspended today between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., when voting closes.

According to a statement from AMS Elections Administrator Max Holmes, Marx’s campaign has been suspended for “slate-like behaviour.”

Holmes said Marx invited another candidate to a Discord chat “to coordinate the campaign activities and volunteers of [Marx’s] campaign.”

The decision was unanimous according to Holmes. The other candidates' campaign was not suspended because “they did not engage in discussion of their campaign activities, and they did not purposely engage in slate-like behaviour.”

In an email statement to The Ubyssey, Marx wrote “while still abiding by the requirements of campaign suspension, I will be appealing this ruling.”
