Drédyn Fontana is your next VP academic and university affairs (VP AUA).
Fontana beat out first-time candidate Taushifa Shaikh to replace incumbent VP AUA Kamil Kanji.
Fontana ran on a platform centred around affordability, accessibility and equity, diversity and inclusion. He is currently the Engineering Undergraduate Society’s VP academic.
When results were announced, Fontana said he feels “so good.”
“I’m really, really happy,” said Fontana. “It was a lot of work, and I’m really looking forward to putting a lot of work into the portfolio next year.”
Fontana’s term begins on May 1. He was also acclaimed to the UBC Vancouver Senate as the applied science student senator.
