“The charges were stayed, as the Crown concluded that there was no longer a substantial likelihood of a conviction,” said Daniel McLaughlin, communications counsel for the criminal justice branch, in an email statement to The Ubyssey.

Regulatory testing of drugs and medical products encompasses only three-quarters of a per cent of animals used in UBC research. A third of all animals are used in medical and veterinary research to research treatment for disease.

Three candidates for the Vancouver-Point Grey riding came to the Nest Thursday evening for a debate focused on student issues. The Ubyssey moderated the debate and has since checked the veracity of some of the candidates' claims.
After modelling 10 different scenarios with three sub scenarios each based on information made public by BC Hydro, the researchers concluded that Site C was not economically past the point of no return.
“It [has] become somewhat of a crusade for me,” said Ono. “Far too often the case is that people who are struggling with mental health issues keep it to themselves, and that leaves them without the support networks they need.”

VPD assessed that Ratelle “poses a risk of significant harm to the safety of young women, particularly those 16 to 25 years-old.” He was also evaluated to have “a moderate to high risk for violent and sexual re-offending.”
Dr. Susan E. Parker, the current Deputy University Librarian at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus, is the new UBC University Librarian. This appointment came after a three month search.
