The Vancouver Park Board recently banned cetaceans — whales, dolphins and porpoises — from Vancouver parks. While animal rights advocates rejoiced, scientists winced. The Vancouver Aquarium has launched a legal challenge in response.

“We are honoured to be able to repurpose trees for use throughout Block F and for the use of the Musqueam people,” said Jay Mearns, operations manager of the Musqueam Capital Corporation and a Musqueam band member.

Last year, Finlay and his colleagues discovered that when four particular bacteria were present in the guts of infants, their chance of developing asthma later in life went down. Infants without the four bacteria were more likely to develop asthma.

With an abundance of sushi joints on campus and over 600 sushi restaurants in Metro Vancouver, it’s safe to say Vancouverites never have to stray far for the popular seafood dish. But it’s time to reconsider eating sushi on a regular basis.

Hummingbirds are magnificent creatures — they fly at breakneck speeds, move with ninja-like agility and hover. It seems impossible that we could ever understand their movements, but the picture just became a little clearer.
