Holmes is one of the AMS’s most visible, ambitious and productive executives.
“Rather than promoting goodwill and unity, the AMS has failed to condemn hate in some instances while hyperbolizing it in others. I want an AMS that respects that students can have unity and goodwill amongst each other despite disagreements.“

The club has maintained that they denounce any violence connected to the event and do not believe it poses any harm to students.
Campus groups are responding to American conservative commentator Ben Shapiro’s visit to campus this Halloween in an unexpected way — by choosing not to directly protest.
The BoG has outlined a number of key policies that are either slated for or already being actively reviewed. These include reworking how UBC accommodates students with disabilities, the school’s rules around discrimination and harassment, and the legal status of cannabis on campus.
The Equity and Inclusion Office hosted an discussion event on Monday afternoon that centred around freedom of expression and controversial events on campus. Around 50 campus community members attended the event.
Some students are calling on UBC to cancel a talk by American conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro, who is slated to speak at the Chan Centre this October in an event organized by the Free Speech Club (FSC).
To begin the night, Parrott addressed the backlash from her fan-base by explaining that the more hostile and hyperbolic of her followers passed around half-truths on twitter accusing her of raising money for “a Nazi event,” but also saying that this group was simply a loud minority.
