64 per cent of study participants who tested positive for fentanyl reported knowingly using the substance. This number is up from 2015 where a previous study found that the majority of people (73 per cent) who tested positive for fentanyl did not know they used it.
This study investigated the effectiveness of habitat restoration in the Algar sub-range of the East Side Athabasca River, which is 70 km southwest of Fort McMurray.
“To our knowledge, the Hotel Study is the most thorough characterization of the health of homeless and marginally housed individuals in the world.”
"We are very interested in seeing if these types of health disparities can be reflected in the difference of these tags,” said Gladish.
Initiatives have been introduced across Canada, focusing on youth mental health, and the findings of the study help to highlight areas that still require development, giving direction to future movements in the mental health field.
“This was actually a study using a really neat combination of old[er] data and new[er] data,” said Dr. Catherine Johnson, an author of the study and professor in UBC’s department of earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences.
